Indianapolis - Joan Louise Hamilton (87) formerly of Evansville, Indiana passed away from complications of COVID-19 on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 in Indianapolis. Joan was born September 10, 1933 in Stendal, Indiana to Irene (Weitkamp) and William Johnson.
Joan was preceded in death by her husbands: Owen Hamilton, A. Wayne Farthing, and Jerry Headlee; son, David Headlee; father, William Johnson; mother, Irene (Weitkamp) Sandleben; and brother, Jerry Johnson.
She attended Stendal Grade School and graduated from Central High School. After several years working in the office at North High School, she embarked on a 20-year career with Deaconess Hospital, retiring as an Administrative Director of the Family Practice Residency in 1994. She was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ, Isis Temple No. 41 Daughters of the Nile, and P.E.O Sisterhood in Evansville. In 2017 she moved to Robin Run Retirement Community in Indianapolis to be closer to her daughter.
Joan is survived by her sister, Peggy Garner of Evansville; daughter, Jennifer Ong (Winfield) of Indianapolis, IN, son, Gavin Headlee (Jim Berry) of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Parker Brink (Kathleen) of Santa Clara, CA, David Ong of Denver, CO, Joan Ong (Zach Norman) of Chicago, IL, Ryan Headlee (Sarah) of Providence, RI, Drew Headlee of Evansville, IN, Jess Headlee (Janae Boynes) of Atlanta, GA, and Luke Headlee of Charlotte, NC; and 3 great grandchildren.
