Judith A. “Judy” Vaughn, 75, died at 9:15 pm on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Unity Point Proctor in Peoria, IL.
Born on August 16, 1945 in Rushville, IL to Marshall and Elva Hummel Thompson, she married H.E. “Gene” Vaughn on August 20, 1966 in Bader, IL. He survives.
Also surviving are two children; Susan (Kevin) Root of Hoopeston, IL and Mike (Rebecca) Vaughn of Washington, IL, one brother; Marshall Thompson of Champaign, IL, and five grandchildren; Karsen Root, Rhys Root, Owen Root, Carly Vaughn and Ella Vaughn.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Thompson, and her parents.
Judy was a teacher in various grades at District #50 and District #52, both in Washington, for more than 30 years. She was also a co-founder of the Washington Christian Pre-School and an active member of the Washington Christian Church. She also enjoyed various activities and events at the Washington Historical Society.
She was extremely loyal and devoted to her family, friends and students. She loved attending extra-curricular activities and sporting events for her children and grandchildren.
Service for Judy will be private due to current restrictions. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
