Michael “Mick” Dale Shaffer, 70, of Fairmont, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020. He was born November 5, 1950 in Oakland, MD, a son of the late Dale Shaffer and Maxine Zimmerman Shaffer.
Michael graduated from East Fairmont High School where he was Student Body President. He then graduated from Fairmont State University with an Industrial Arts Teaching degree. He was employed by Standard Hydraulics in Hurricane, WV. He was previously the co-owner of Diamond Hydraulics and previously employed by Valley Distributing, Morgantown Machine, Custom BBQ and Catering, and had a paper route as a child. Michael enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, West Virginia University Basketball and Football, Elk River, traveling to Ocean City, and buckwheat cakes. He was also a member of the Mellow Brothers softball team.
Michael is survived by his wife, Shelia Shaffer; children, Kelle Kelly and her husband Donnie of Pennsylvania, Jay Shaffer and his wife Amanda of Stephenville, TX, Christopher Shaffer of Morgantown, and Curtis Shaffer and his wife Angie of Fairmont; step children, Chad Dillon and his wife Cristina, and Nicholas Dillon and his wife Andrea; grandchildren, Will Jones, Camden Jones, Jaelyn Shaffer, Ryan Shaffer, Jocelynn Kilgore, Lilly Dillon, and Gabe Dillon; sisters, Lois Becker and her husband Bill, and Kim Michael and her husband Randy; son-in-law, Billy Jones and his partner Lisa; daughter-in-law, Andi Dodd; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Vicki Henderson.
