Obituary of Glowia Lee Gordon
Glowia Lee Gordon, 88, quietly and peacefully traversed the veil of this life into the glorious next on December 17, 2020 in her home, in Montgomery, Texas.

The world got a little more spunky when Glo came into it on November 29, 1932 in the east Texas town of Kelsey. Her growing up years were spent in the neighboring Gilmer, Texas, living on fried apple pies and pecans and where she was endowed with southern charm and hospitality--traits she lived fantastically all of her days.

Life could not have gotten any better until she moved to Corpus Christi when she was 19 and met the love of her life, Jerry. He matched her grit with gentleness and the two of them fell fast into love and eventually eloped across the border in Matamores, Mexico on December 13, 1952.

Together they brought four children into the world, and raised them in Houston, Texas. There, they spent years serving faithfully as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, travelling as a family, and making memories. She tried desperately to pass on her love of hosting and entertaining, boating, Westerns, golf, and football to her children. She was particularly fond of her Houston Oilers until they abandoned the city and her loyalties shifted to the Texans. After her babies were grown and moved out, she and Jerry moved to Walden on the 17th hole of a golf course and just minutes from the lake.

Perhaps she considered that life couldn’t get any better at that point—that is until grandchildren and later great-grandchildren came and opened chambers of her heart she didn’t even know were there. There wasn’t a soul that she met who didn’t hear about or see pictures of her 18 grandchildren and 31 great grands and learn about every one of their accomplishments. Each of them loved visiting her home, finding their picture on her overcrowded frame village on the piano, messing with her walking sticks, perusing treasures on her shelves, hearing stories of the javelina, and being doused with compliments and kisses.

Glowia spent 19 years living alone after her beloved Jerry passed away in April of 2001. She often expressed the emptiness of that farewell and has been waiting anxiously to return to his embrace. The thought of that reunion gives the rest of us here such a thrill to consider.

Glowia is survived by her four children, Lance Gordon, Lisa (David) Gordon Butler, George Gordon, and Georgia Gordon, her sister Virginia Louise Lee Arnold, and her many grandchildren and great grands. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley Hector Lee and Oni Rosebud Sanders Lee, her sister Katie Ella Lee Bishop (Alton), brother-in-law Larry B. Arnold, and her sweet Jerry.

Funeral Services will be held at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas, on January 5, 2021, at 10 AM. A graveside service for immediate family at the Houston National Cemetery will follow. Services can be viewed remotely on the Cashner Funeral Home Facebook page.
