Mickey, as he was known by everyone, was born on May 6, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Alton and Agnes Mattingly. At 18 years of age, Mickey fell in love with his wife of 53 years, Linda Prater Mattingly. They married when he was 22 years old. After graduation from Bellarmine College, in Louisville, he worked for an oil company for 30 years. After retirement, he bought a farm where he raised cattle and devoted himself to his family.

Left to carry on his cherished memory are: two children, Drew Mattingly (Lindsay), of Buford, Georgia, and Tiffany Mattingly DuPree (Phil), of Canton, Georgia; four grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends, who loved him dearly.
