She was born in Castlewood, Virginia; daughter of the late Elihu and Dacy Gladys Ervin Jessee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Glenn Helbert; two brothers, Elihu Jessee, Jr. and Jim Jessee; and three sisters, Joyce Mullins and husband, Tom, Jewel Cantrell and husband, Wiley, and Gaynell Cantrell and husband, John; and one brother-in-law, Sonny Taylor.
She was a member of Ervin Chapel Church in Castlewood, Virginia. She loved flowers and quilting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Eleanor David and husband, Ronald of St. Paul, Virginia and Carolyn Cooper of Castlewood, Virginia; one son, Giles Helbert and wife, Brenda of Nickelsville, Virginia; one brother, Guy Jessee and wife, Sue of Castlewood, Virginia; three sisters, Esther Taylor of Castlewood, Virginia, Lois Mullins and husband, Arnold of Castlewood, Virginia, and Ellen Hurd and husband, Wilkie of Castlewood, Virginia; four grandchildren, Valerie Lasley and husband, Steven, Michael Cooper and wife, Courtney, Aaron Smith, and Jared Helbert; five great-grandchildren, Macee, Kaden, Jonathan, Makalia and husband, Justin, and Indie; one great-great-granddaughter, Ava; one great-great-grandson, Chase; one brother-in-law, Jessie Helbert of Castlewood, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Lou Veda Jessee of Castlewood, Virginia and Martha Helbert of Abingdon, Virginia; special friends, Patsy Sexton, Rhonda Patrick, Virginia Riggs, Judy Jones, and Edith Dean; and several nieces and nephews.
Following the COVID-19 restrictions set forth by the Governor of Virginia on face-covering requirements and social distancing, Funeral Services for Eva Kate Jessee Helbert will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2020, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel in Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Virgil Musick officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Love Mausoleum at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jessie Helbert, Darrell Taylor, Guy Jessee, and Wilkie Hurd, and Arnold Mullins.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2020, in Castlewood Funeral Home in Castlewood, Virginia.
