At age 18, Peggy married Harold Ray Goodwin, Sr on 7 Nov 1943 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ray enlisted in the US Navy, where he became a dive bomber pilot, was stationed in Wildwood, NJ, and saw duty off a carrier in the Pacific Theatre. Upon completing his service, they moved to Memphis, TN, where Ray attended Southern College of Optometry, and they began their family of three children (Harold Ray Jr, Sally, & Michael). Ray and Peggy were always active in the First Christian Church where they were Deacons and Elders. Upon completion of Ray's degree, they moved to Sulphur, OK, where he established his Optometry practice and later became Mayor of Sulphur. They remained there until his retirement in 1999. He sold his practice and he and Peggy moved to Edmond, OK to enjoy their retirement.
