Graveside service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Fairview Cemetery, 710 Fair Avenue, Gainesville, Texas.
He was born on May 21, 1925 in Gainesville, Texas to Sidney Luther Bennett and Thelma (Garvin) Bennett. He was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Airforce. He married Dorothy Shotwell on April 16, 1945. They were married 67 years and she preceded him in death on July 22, 2013. Sidney held a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, loved to fish, hunt, golf, snow ski and garden.
He is survived by sons, Pat Bennett and wife, Des of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Mike Bennett and wife, Nancy of Holiday Island, Arkansas; daughter, Cynthia Blackwell and husband, Doug of Haltom City, Texas; 10 grandchildren; Michelle, John Michael, John Patrick, Sidney William Buckey, Zack, David, Rachel, Amy, Abby and Sarah. He has 21 great-grandchildren and one on the way; Niece, Kathy Herbert.
Preceded in Death: Parents, wife, Dorothy and brother, Jimmy Bennett.
In support of our local, state, and federal government including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, social distancing and the wearing of masks while attending the funeral services and visitation will be observed.
