Lula Mae Wimmer

July 19, 1933 - December 22, 2020

Lula (Mae) Baldwin Wimmer, 87 of Tazewell County, VA went to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Mae was born to the late George Thomas and Rosa Pearl Altizer Baldwin on July 19, 1933 at Newhall, WV and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Mae started her journey January 3, 1952, marrying the love of her life, John (Quincy) Wimmer, Jr., from that union, God blessed them with sons, John, III, Philip, and daughter, Elaine. She worked at General Instrument Corporation, then as seamstress for Eastern Isle, Jacqueline Manufacturing, and Bull Frog Knits.

This Mother’s work was unlimited, as the selfless and unconditional love Mother gave to everyone was heartfelt and boundless either through her smile, gentle kiss, warm embrace, friendship, or her exceptional gift to share her country cooking. Her children learned at an early age her rules and limits of discipline would reveal Gods effectiveness in making us responsible individuals. Her knowledge and wisdom of God’s word, countless prayers, and praises in song of Jesus Loves Me, Jesus Loves the Little Children, and Amazing Grace was assurance to all, we have a Savior in Jesus Christ, and He’s worthy to honor all our lives.

She is survived by her loving family, including sons, John Quincy Wimmer, III (Chris), Philip Roger Wimmer (Rhonda), and daughter, Ellen Elaine Rasnick (Larry); her beloved grandchildren, Angie (Frank), John Q., IV (Michelle), Brett, Kristina, Ashley (Mark), Sheena (Chris), Larry, II (Laura), and Chad (Dorothy); great grandchildren, Savannah, Zachary, Sierra, Tanner, Tyler, Josiah, Gabriel, Eli, Luke, Jayden, and Olivia.

The family offers their humble gratitude to Tazewell Heritage Hall for the care, love and support given to Mae during the last six years.

Heaven must have needed another mother because, as we know, a mother’s work is never done. So God discharged His angels, provided the beautiful Star of Bethlehem as a guiding light that night, and took her by the hand and led her to the Promised Land.

Due to Covid 19, a private family service is planned at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA with Pastor Henry Johnson officiating with burial at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
