Samuel “Sam” T. Yates, died Monday, December 21, 2020 at his home in Jackson, MS. Mr. Yates was born in Polkville, MS to Hubert and Nancy Yates. He honorably served the City of Jackson as a firefighter for twenty years. Sam was an avid gardener, longtime Rankin County farmer, and devoted husband to Ruby D. Yates for forty-four years.

Mr. Yates is survived by his wife, Ruby; children, Robin Webb (Jim), Kathy Hallowell, Mike Martin (Kathy), and Kenny Martin (Robin); and his sister, Jane Carr. Mr. Yates was the beloved “Pa” of Chad Parish, Rani Bunkley, Evan Webb, Zack Hallowell, O’Brian Hallowell, Blake Martin, Chase Martin, Niki Martin, and Christopher Martin. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Yates was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Billy Ray and Robert; his sister, Mattie Dee; and his beloved mother-in-law, Mrs. O’Neal Davis.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 28th at 11:00 AM in the Garden of Christus at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.
