Born Sept. 8, 1935, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of Alfred and Blanche (Thompson) Hearn. She married George M. Norris April 30, 1955, at Hawn’s Bridge Chapel. He preceded her in death April 7, 2000.
Surviving are daughters, Georgana Norris, James Creek and Carol Hockenberry and husband, Ken, Union Township, granddaughters, Sharon Reed and husband, Cliff, and April Norris, and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Ann Regan, Brady Lane Reed, Brody Wyatt Reed and Ayvrix Michael Skrabut.
Siblings Robert Hearn and wife, Jane, Huntingdon, Lee Hearn, Slatington and Nellie Treece Krones, Margate, Florida, also survive.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ira “Hank” Norris, a grandson, Michael Lee Norris, sisters, Louise Hearn and Arlene Price, and brother, Donald Hearn.
Mrs. Norris was one of the founding members of the Hartslog Valley Chapel where she held the position of treasurer. She dedicated much of her time there and was a valued member.
She was a graduate of Huntingdon High School, Class of 1953.
She worked at J.B. Kunz Co., Huntingdon, until 1955. She was a homemaker and along with her husband, George, ran Norris Fruit Farm. She also served as judge of elections in Juniata Township from 1998 to 2002.
She enjoyed cooking, baking and making delicious pies and cakes. She loved African violets and at one time her husband planted a row of zinnias for her. She also enjoyed canning, playing games, puzzles, walking, reading her Bible, meals at the senior citizens center and church socials.
She will be remembered as a great listener who devoted her life to God.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Nate Kurtz officiating. Interment will be in the Anderson Cemetery, Hesston.
