Wayne D. “W.W.” Watkins, 76, of Morristown, went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 20, 2021 at his home after a brief illness. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He retired from the Tennessee Army National Guard as 1st Sergeant after 28 years of service. He was a scale mechanic by trade and traveled the southern United States working for Shamrock Scales. He also worked various other jobs throughout his life. He enjoyed dirt track racing with the “Bad Attitude Race Crew” and was an avid skydiver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Betty Watkins; brothers, Dick, Bill, Charles, Joseph Jr. and James Watkins; sister, Ruth Cox.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Anita Watkins; daughter, Traci (Joey) Dickerson; sons, Jason (Julia) Watkins, John (Jessica)Watkins; grandchildren, Jacob Dickerson, Juniper Watkins (Jason), Adisson and Wyatt Watkins (John); sister, Shirley Snowden, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The body will lie in repose Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 1:00pm to 7:00pm in the West Chapel of Allen Funeral Home. Graveside services and military honors will be 9:00 am Wednesday, December 23, 2020 in Hamblen Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church Food Pantry.
