Ruth was born September 15, 1922, on a farm in Schuyler county near Brooklyn, IL to Chalmer and Laura Ina Allen Armel.
She began dating Lawrence M. Kindhart on July 4, 1940. The next year, he went away to serve in WWII. Ruth waited for him while he was away and wrote to him everyday. After 3.5 years of Lawrence being away at war, they were married on August 8, 1945 in Quincy, IL. They had just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary before he preceded her in death on August 23, 2012.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Danielle Parker of Frisco, TX and Tiffany Perez (Luis) of McKinney, TX; four great-grandchildren, Madeleine "Maddie" Parker, Nathaniel "Nathan" Meier, and Aleah and Abigail Perez; one daughter-in-law, Julie Kindhart; one sister-in-law, Roselea Armel; and many cousins.
In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Neil Kindhart; one daughter, Marcia Junkerman; one grandson, Michael Venicombe; one sister, Vera Huechteman; and two brothers, Wayne Armel and William "Bill" Armel.
Ruth contributed to the war effort by working at a shoe factory, Electric Wheel, and Hiram Walker during WWII. After her children graduated high school, she worked at various local restaurants for many years. Ruth retired in 1984 from Baron's.
Ruth was a talented quilter. She and Lawrence traveled to all 50 states in their lifetime, and she had quite the collection of plates from several different states. She also collected thimbles and antiques. Most of all, Ruth loved her family, and especially enjoyed having them over for the holidays.
Ruth attended Melrose Chapel United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Great River Honor Flight.
