Ella Brown Reynolds Lawrence was born to Alfred B. and Beatrice Campbell McCain Reynolds on January 9, 1929, in Louisville, Winston County, Mississippi.

Mrs. Lawrence joined National Society Daughters of the American Revolution on May 17, 1947, and served for seventy-three years. In 1955, Beatrice Reynolds received national recognition and was “awarded a certificate by the National Society DAR as the mother with the greatest number of DAR daughters.” An article in “The Jackson Sun” newspaper on April 24, 1955, included photographs of Mrs. Reynolds and her seven daughters who were all members of the Jackson-Madison Chapter.

Ella Lawrence was the last surviving member of the Alfred B. Reynolds family. Her six sisters were Julia Reynolds Hendrick, Marylee Reynolds, Margaret Katharine Reynolds, Isabel Reynolds Frye, Louise McCain Reynolds Harris, and Edna Carolyn Reynolds Davis.

Ella’s husband of 71 years, Swanee Burrus Lawrence Sr., passed away on September 3, 2020. Their children are Ella Brown “Brownie” Lawrence Clinton and Swanee Burrus “Swan” Lawrence Jr.

Ella Reynolds Lawrence, age 91 of Jackson, passed away on December 19, 2020 at her residence at Brookdale – Jackson Oaks.

She was born on January 9, 1929 in Louisville, MS, the daughter of the late Alfred B. Reynolds and Beatrice McCain Reynolds. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lambuth College. She was a loving wife and mother to her family and devoted herself to her home and family. She and her husband were active members of Fellowship Bible Church.

She held offices in many civic and charity organizations, including the Board of Trustees of the Jackson and Shiloh Regional Libraries, the Jackson-Madison Chapter NSDAR, Madison Co. American Cancer Society, and Jackson Mental Health Assn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Swanee Lawrence, Sr., who preceded her in death in September.

She is survived by a daughter, Brownie Clinton of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; her son, Swan Lawrence (Sandy) of Topeka, Kansas; six nieces and four nephews.

Due to the current pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later time when it is safe to do so. She will be buried next to her husband on the Lawrence family plot at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
