Gloria G. Carlson, 95, of Fredonia died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, December 16, 2020 at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk. She was born on July 22, 1925 in Sheridan, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Grace (Deering) Douglass.

A lifelong resident of the area, Gloria was a graduate of Dunkirk High School with the Class of 1942. She had been employed as a dental assistant at Dr. John Ingham's Dental Office in Fredonia and was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dunkirk.

Survivors include her husband, whom she married on October 11, 2008; one stepson and his spouse; her cousin and her spouse; and three stepdaughters and each of their spouses. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Baer; and her second husband, Harry Hayward.

Following the guidelines and protocols administered by the Governor of New York, family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, December 20 at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 21 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Willowbrook Park Cemetery.
