Laurie G. Smith (nee Hyer), 64 of Elyria, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Cleveland Clinic in Avon following a lengthy illness. She was born December 8, 1956 in Elyria.
Laurie was a graduate of Elyria West High School, Lorain County Community College, and received a bachelor's degree from Myers Business College in Cleveland. She was a landlord in Elyria and Lorain for the past 20 years. She attended Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Elyria and AA in Elyria. She loved animals, her dog "Oliver", and enjoyed camping and gardening.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Charles; mother, Rose Mary Hyer (nee Herwig) of Elyria and seven siblings. She was preceded in death by her brother, Scott Hyer.
There will be a Memorial Gathering from 6-8pm Tuesday, December 22 at the Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second Street, Elyria. A Memorial Service will begin at 8pm.
