Born in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Thomas Heyward Hodge II, and Claire Curl Hodge. He grew up in Lyndon and graduated from Westport High School. Well known in the Shelby County business community, he was owner and operator of It's Convenient Food Mart in Shelbyville, along with his wife, Ruth, and daughter, Melissa. An auctioneer and antiques expert, he was also known throughout the world as a curator and authority on Chinese export porcelain and other antiques. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Janis Hodge Warford, of Taylorsville, and his father-in-law, Harold Edward Burge of Shelbyville.
His survivors include his daughters, Vickie Fields and her husband, Steve, and Melissa Newton and her husband, Dennis, all of Clayvillage; his mother-in-law, Betty Cardwell Burge of Shelbyville; and his four grandchildren, Melanie Newton, Annabelle Fields, Sammy Fields, and Drew Newton.
His family wishes to thank those tireless, caring medical professionals at Baptist Health Louisville who provided comfort and care to him when his family were unable to be by his bedside.
A private graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, the 23rd day of December, 2020, at the Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, Kentucky,
