John W. Phelps, age 71, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020.
John is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Phelps; children: Heather Joy (Rob) Greene, Joel Jeffery (Jennifer) Phelps, and Hollie Alane (Don) Rosenski; nine grandchildren: Brandon D. Rosenski, Brianna R. Huff, Collin M. Huff, Reagan M. Greene, Jarrett A. Greene, Caleb T. Greene, Joshua Phelps, Jordan Phelps and Jakob Phelps; sister, Jenna Briggs.
John was preceded in death by his parents: Don and Dorothy Phelps; daughter, Dawn Rachelle Phelps; grandchildren: Erica Nichole Forster, Trinity Paige Rosenski, Morgan Phoenix Rosenski, Robert Donald Rosenski, Grayson Dale Rosenski, Lidia Angel Rosenski, Linda Pearl Rosenski and Robert Jerry Rosenski.
John retired from the University of Chicago as an Engineer. He was a member of the NRA and served in the Philippines during the Vietnam Era as a Sargent in the Airforce.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 28, 2020 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Gary Butler officiating. Interment to follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
