Joseph Russell "Joe" Bradley was born August 13, 1919 in Ava, Douglas County, Missouri; one of three children born to Joseph Robert Bradley and Bertie (Garrison) Bradley. His father was a County Sheriff and his mother was a teacher. Joe married Neoma Councille, a local school teacher on October 6, 1945 in Garland County, Arkansas. They shared 67 years of marriage and were blessed with one son and two grandchildren. He attended Oklahoma A&M, which is now Oklahoma State University. He taught school until his retirement in 1986. He also officiate college football well into his sixties. Joe served in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star, the European, African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the American Campaign Medal. He was a Shriner and a member of the Methodist Church. He lived alone and drove his own car until he was 96 years of age.
Joseph Russell "Joe" Bradley was inducted into the Centenarians of Oklahoma Hall of Fame on the occasion of his 100th birthday celebration, attended by family and friends. He lived 101 years and four months.
