Mr. Daniel Green, more affectionately known as “Hawk,” was born August 8, 1939 to the late Mrs. Viola Lewis Green and the late Mr. A.G. Green, Sr. in The Rock, GA of Upson County. He attended public school in the Upson County School System. Daniel went to work as most men did during his time working on a farm. When he was older, he was employed by Thomaston Mills. He worked at the mill for over ten years. Later he found employment with Smoky White, where he washed cars. Daniel didn’t mind working. He often said, “I’ve been working all of my life.” His last employment was with his brother-in-law. Deacon George E. Trice Jr. he helped install burial vaults and septic tanks. Daniel joined Fellowship Baptist Church at an early age, and later, he joined the Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church. He loved good preaching that taught the word of God. Daniel loved going to church and was always ready to go with an invitation from one of his family members. After making his home in Triune Village, he would often visit Mary Lizzie Baptist Church. After retirement, Daniel loved reading and studying the Bible; he also enjoyed sitting on his porch, laughing and talking with his friends, and arguing with his nephew, Alvin. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and the following siblings, A.G. Green, Jr, James Green, Dorothy Green Trice, Annie Ruth Grace Trice, Johnnie Mae Green, Ollie Green Jones, and Mattie Green Childs. On Thursday, December 3, 2020, the Lord saw his son in distress. He whispered his name and called him home to rest. His family and many friends will greatly miss him.

Daniel leaves to cherish his memory three brothers, Mr. Paul Green. Mr. Sanford Green, both of Atlanta, GA and Mr. Nathaniel Green of FL; one sister, Mrs. Naomi Green Hammond of Thomaston, GA; one brother-in-law, Deacon Jack Childs of Atlanta, GA; a devoted nephew, Deacon George Alvin Trice, III; a host of other nieces, nephews, great -nieces, and great -nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends, whom all will miss him dearly.
