T.J. Calfee Succumbs At 84
Thomas J. Calfee, Sr., 84, a former member of the Princeton Police Department, died Friday at 3 a.m. at his home, 915 Reynolds Avenue, Princeton, following an illness of six months.
Mr. Calfee was a retired employee of the Virginian Railway, and had served as a member of the police force in Princeton for eight years. he moved to Princeton from Kegley 42 years ago, and was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Born at Kegley on April 15, 1875, he was a son of the late Jack and Margaret Thompson Calfee. His wife, the former Miss Josephine Hurst, preceded him in death in May, 1957.
surviving are four daughters: Mrs. Sam Mason, Princeton; Mrs. Frank H. Bailey, Columbus, Ohio; Mrs. Walter C. Byrd, Pineville; and Mrs. Vaughn Mcqueen of College Park Md.; five sons: Fred S. Calfee, Mullens; Kelly V. Calfee, Newport News, Va.; T.J. Calfee, Jr., Chesapeake, Ohio; W.E. and Elmer Calfee, of Princeton; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Page Calfee of Princeton; and a sister, Mrs. Lula Crotty of Miami, Fla.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at George W. Seaver Memorial Mortuary in Princeton, with burial in Oakwood Park Cemetery.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Granddaughters and nieces will serve as flower bearers. The body will be taken to the residence today at 4 p.m and returned to the chapel Sunday at 1 p.m.
