William Dewsnap was an architect. According to his nephew Kenneth Dewsnap, William was one of the architects for the Triboro Bridge, New York, and his name appears on a plaque on the bridge. He was also the architect for the Lee Memorial Library in Allendale, New Jersey. He was one of the charter members of the volunteer fire department in Allendale an served as its president for 25 years. William is buried in the family plot at Valleau Cemetery. An editorial in the local newspaper after his death is headed, "A Public Loss." It goes on to say, "In the death of Mr. Dewsnap, Allendale has lost a citizen to whom it owed much because of his ability, achievement, and interest in public affairs."
