He graduated high school in Jonesville, VA, and then served in the U.S. Army from 1961-64. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle in 1999 following 35 years of service. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He attended Whittier Lane Baptist Church for many years where he taught Sunday school for 20 years. A proud grandpa, he was an honest, God-fearing man who cared for his family dearly.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 56 years, Shirley M. Pennington of New Castle, a son, Jeff Pennington of New Castle and a daughter, Lisa (Gary) Kendall of New Castle; a grandson, Jake Kendall of New Castle and a granddaughter, Kayla (Javon) Coatie of Bloomington; two brothers, Doug (Peggy) Pennington of New Castle and James (Dana)
Pennington of MI; sisters, Linda (Dean) Slicer of Trinity, FL, and Brenda Barricks (David) of New Castle; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Pastor Doug Keppel and Bro. Frank Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Salvation Army, 2500 Washington St., New Castle, IN or the Westminster Community Center, 2600 C Ave., New Castle, IN.
