Kathy J. Michaud, 58, longtime resident of Amherst, NH, died on December 12, 2020 at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, NH.
She was born in Port Jefferson, NY on December 14, 1962, a daughter of Henry J. and Betty J. (Watkins) Breda. She was raised and educated in Amherst, NH and graduated from Milford Area Senior High School, Class of 1980.
Kathy had been employed as an LNA at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, Nashua, NH for more than 20 years, where she had worked up to her final weeks. Kathy had always been a very hard worker and was an inspiration to so many. She had an amazing group of friends who she called her work family, including Wendy Carta who helped her in her final hours. A quote from her dear friend, Wendy, after her passing, “Even her last day alive she was still making comments and cracking us all up at the hospital.” She was surrounded by people who loved her and worked with her for many years.
She was a devoted mother and friend who was very blessed with her close group of lifelong friends that she considered sisters. Friends who made a pact they would always take care of each other and they showed their devotion and love to her especially in her final weeks. Kathy had a strong Christian faith and attended Merrimack Valley Baptist Church for many years. She most especially loved spending time with her two grandchildren who call her “YA-YA.” “They brought her the most joy and light I will ever remember seeing in her face,” her daughter said.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents; her former husband, Rick Michaud; a sister, Cindy Breda; and a brother, Mark Breda.
Family members include two children, Christy Michaud and Cory Michaud, both of Nashua, NH; two grandchildren, Caleb and Everleigh; a sister, Tracy Denis of Amherst, NH; two brothers, Doug Breda of Swanzey, NH and Gregory Breda of Manchester, NH; many nieces and nephews; and her two best friends, Jenny McKinnon and Julie Blashock.
Memorial visiting hours are on Thursday, December 17th from 4:00-6:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Those attending are asked to adhere to current guidelines by wearing a mask and observing social distancing. Burial will be in Meadowview Cemetery, Amherst, at a later date.
