Walter Cornelius Reynolds, M.D.
March 24, 1920 - Nov. 17, 2020

A Trailblazer Is Remembered…

Dr. Walter C. Reynolds died of non-COVID causes while in hospice, with family and loved ones saying their goodbyes, at Legacy Mt. Hood Medical Center in Gresham, Ore.
Walter is survived by four of six children with wife Mildred E. Squires Reynolds (Portland, d. 1991): Liz A. Reynolds Thomas, PhD and daughter, Ifé A. Thomas; Michael A. Reynolds (Carole); Walter S. Reynolds (Laura Clear); Lori S. Reynolds Nischol (Sunil Nischol; sons, Arjun and Armaan); and his partner, Beverly J. Hilliard and her son, Gregory "Abdu" Hilliard. Walter loved his nieces, nephews and extended family who reside in cities across the U.S., and globally in Vancouver B.C., Mumbai and New Delhi, India. He also was predeceased by his daughter, Monica Jeanne "Gigi" Reynolds (Laguna Hills, d. 2018) and son, Charles Wesley Reynolds (Portland, d. 1954).
The Reynolds family extends special thanks to OHSU President, Dr. Danny Jacobs, his office staff, and media team for the stunning online article and the "President's Challenge Coin," awarded to our father in honor of his 100th birthday, signifying his deep commitment to improving the health and well-being of all Oregonians, and for honoring his decades of service to the Portland community. (https://news.ohsu.edu/2020/03/24/centenarians-wisdom-remains-a-lesson-today).
Our heartfelt appreciation to: Legacy Mt. Hood Medical Center, and the entire hospice team; Providence Portland Medical Center; Village Health Care, skilled nursing; Powell Valley Assisted Living; the Hazelwood management team; and Home Instead Senior Care, for your respect, love and kindness shown our Dad this past year. On behalf of the Dr. Walter C. Reynolds family ([email protected]), thank you for being a part of our Dad's life. A life well lived, in service to humanity, is a beautiful legacy.
Due to current pandemic restrictions, a private family Memorial Service at Zeller Chapel of The Roses in Portland, and a Military Honors ceremony at Willamette National Cemetery are planned for Friday, March 26, 2021.
