Doris Elaine Wheeler, 74, of Great Falls, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 28th at 1:00 PM in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home with Burial to follow at Highland Cemetery.

Born December 10, 1946 in Great Falls, MT to John and Caroline Meyer Burkstrand, Doris attended local schools and graduated from Great Falls High. Driving down Central Ave in town she met Harold Earl Wheeler Jr, the love of her life, and married him on October 10, 1964. They were together for over 56 years until her passing and were blessed with two children.

Her beloved Harold was a member of the U.S. Air Force, so the family moved around the world, from Texas, to Indiana, to Spain, to Greece, to California and even Great Falls, MT. She loved being a military wife and living around the world.

Doris was a homemaker, but also worked as a salesclerk, a flagger, a waitress, a casino attendant, whatever she could to help support the family. She loved spending time with her family, dancing and playing darts, playing bingo or going on gambling trips. She loved traveling, getting soft serve ice cream cones and going for a ride. She was a people person, never knew a stranger, and helped everyone that she could. She was so kind, loving and sweet and thoroughly enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her loving husband, Harold Earl Wheeler of Great Falls; daughter, Wendy Sue (Paul Michael) Haas of Great Falls; sisters, Cindy Sue (John Boy) Ramsey of Great Falls and LuAnn K. Myre of Great Falls; brother, Murlyn John (Donna) Burkstrand of Great Falls; two grandsons, Douglas Michael (Kendra) Haas and Tyler John Haas (girlfriend, Payton); three great-granchildren, Noah, Arinna and Jameson; many nieces and nephews.

Those who have preceded her in death include son, Douglas Earl Wheeler; parents, John and Caroline Burkstrand; sister, Karen Balsley and Trudy Pulst; brothers, Neil, Roger and Bernard Burkstrand.
