Neil Franklin Fisher, (85) of Fremont passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 at Northern Lakes Nursing and Rehabilitation, Angola. He was born July 7, 1935, to Oscar H. and Irma I. (Young) Fisher in Edon, Ohio.

They preceded him in death. Neil graduated from Fremont High School in 1954. He enjoyed his daily drives through the Steuben County countryside in his red Ford pickup, catching up with his friends at the Fremont Moose Lodge and chatting with anyone he could strike up a conversation with. He also enjoyed time spent with his family, mowing his lawn and keeping his yard maintained. His career took him down several different paths including as a semi driver for ILC Products and Foamex, a butcher at Kaiser’s and Crandall’s Markets in Fremont, and for the street and park departments in Fremont. His trucking friends knew him as “Little Doc,” a nickname he got from his big brother, Norm.

Survivors include his daughters, Roxy (Bob) Taylor-Pavey of LaPorte and Melissa (Barry) Wilcox of Fremont, step-daughters Susie (Dan) Swager of Fremont, Melisa Baral of Neenah, Wisconsin, Amanda Young of Fremont and grandchildren, Kaity (Chris) Schultz, Cody Taylor, Ashlee (Kyle) Hoos, Brianna Baral and a great-grandson, Carsen Hoos as well as a great-granddaughter, Abigail Hoos, due any day.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Nathalie Crain, and his brothers Ned and Norman Fisher, son-in-law, Thomas Taylor, brother-in-law, William (Bill) Crain, and a sister-in-law, Virginia (Whitcomb) Fisher.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a celebration of life will be planned for a later date. Neil will be laid to rest at the Fremont Cemetery near his brother, Norman.
