James attended New Hope Church, where he served as an Elder. He was owner/manager of S & J Truck Sales. James was a proud member of the NRA. He loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Andrea L. Raines of Decatur; a son, Steven Raines of Virginia; a daughter, Jody Lyne Whalen of the Caribbean; a daughter-in-law, Misty Raines of Roanoke; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Preceding James in death was a son, Michael J. Raines on December 16, 2015.
Visitation will be from Noon-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020 also at the funeral home. Pastor Kevin August will be officiating and burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery.
