Obituary of Mildred Louise Neliton

With her loving sons by her side, on December 11, 2020, Millie went to be with the Lord and join her husband Dale. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Mildred was born to William G. and Catherine Marie (Cordell) Hamrick, in Watertown, South Dakota, moving to Salem in 1937. She attended Bush, Highland, Parrish Jr. High and Salem High School. She met Dale W. Neliton, at the Aumsville Grange Hall dance, on November 5, 1949 and they married 3 weeks later, on November 27, 1949.

Millie supported Dale in his racing in the early years and came to love it too. They moved to Mill City where Dale logged for the summer, moving to Lebanon, Oregon, where he was a milk man for 5 years.

In 1956, they moved back to Salem, where Dale and Millie, along with Orey and Pauline (Neliton) Kliewer, started D & O Garbage Service, retiring in October of 1995 where the second and third generations are still working today.

They enjoyed Nascar and were fortunate enough to take winter vacations from 1985 to 1999 to Daytona and many other tracks to watch them race. They enjoyed traveling and wintering in Yuma, AZ, woodcarving, dancing, being with friends and playing Jokers and marbles.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Andrew and David (Jeanette), David Akers who is thought of as a son since 1956, her wonderful grandchildren Larry Hodges, Sean Neliton, Ashley (Kirk) Sund, Aaron (Tana Jo), Derek (Stefanie), Dale, Garrett (Sara), and Ryan Neliton and her great grandchildren Liam Neliton, McKenna Sund, Paige Neliton, Parker Neliton, Colby Neliton, Kaden Sund and Aubrey Sund, brother Les Hamrick, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins, she loved them all. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband of 63 ½ years Dale, sisters Arlene Hays, and Evelyn Matheson.

A memorial service will be held at 3 pm, Tuesday December 22, 2020 at Howell, Edwards, Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom where it will be officiated by Pastor Brian C. Ricketts. A private interment will occur later at Belcrest Memorial Park.
