Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Hale, 85, formerly of Oquawka, died at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2020, in Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst.

He was born February 25, 1935, in Elmwood, the son of Dewey and Naomi (Hall) Hale. He married Margaret Roe on September 2, 1955, in Abingdon. He later married Irene Montgomery on November 5, 1983, in Galesburg.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Irene; three sons, Randell (Cindy) Hale of Alexis, Rodney Hale of Cameron, and Dwayne (Susan) Hale of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; a step son, James Montgomery of East Galesburg; three grandchildren, Bradley Hale, Jennifer (Brent) Stewart, and Ashley (Dustin) Mattson; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jeanne Means and Patsy Roe; a brother in infancy, Donald Dean; and a daughter-in-law, Susan Hale.

Ron worked as a laborer at the former Gale Products for 31 years before retiring. He had graduated from Abingdon High School. Ron enjoyed camping, boating, and building houses. He also enjoyed following politics and usually had MSNBC on the television from the time he got up until he went to bed.

Cremation will be accorded. A family memorial service will be planned for a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab.
