She was born August 1, 1932 in Hyden, Kentucky, to the late Joe and Eva Lee (Howard) Maggard. She was a Dress Designer for Bernon Custom Fashions for 58 years and was a Representative of House of Loards Designer Fabrics.
Gracie was a member of the American Business Women’s Association, the Lodge, Service Clubs and Fort Ouiatenon Chapter.
Surviving are her children: Donald E. Turpin, Jr. (wife, Vickie) of Tuscaloosa, AL, Daniel E. Turpin (wife, Gloria) of Green Hill and Vickie L. Booth of Lafayette; siblings: Arnold Maggard of Kokomo, Indiana, Clyde Maggard (wife, Judy) of Ft. Wayne and Cleo Sheesley of Cutter Ridge, FL. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Smith.
