Gail was the daughter of Walter James Washington Sr and Johnnie Kate Middlebrooks Washington. She was educated in the Dooly County School System, attending Unadilla Elementary School and graduating from Unadilla High School in the Class of 1973. She attended South Georgia Technical College in Americus, Georgia. She joined the Brown Chapel Baptist Church in Unadilla, Georgia at a young age. She later joined Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia. She loved to cook and bake and was known as a good singer.
She was preceded in death by 1 son, Christopher Washington, 1 brother, Walter James Washington Jr, maternal grandparents, Oscar Middlebrooks and Mattie B. Middlebrooks and paternal grandparents, Miles Zellner, Susie Zellner and Inez Washington.
