Born October 7, 1921 in East Prairie, Missouri, to the late J.W. and Bessie Duncan McIllwain, she was employed for a number of years by Falkoffs in East Prairie and was a member of First Baptist Church in East Prairie. Alfreda was well known for her excellent cooking skills and loved to fix Sunday dinners for her family.
On May 25, 1940 she married Floyd Samuel Thresher, who preceded her in death on April 26, 2003.
Survivors include two sons, Gene (Jean)Thresher and Terry Thresher, both of East Prairie; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two daughters-in-law, Sue Thresher and Sandra Thresher, both of East Prairie.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Mickey Thresher and Larry Thresher; one daughter-in-law, Tammy Thresher; three brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12 noon on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the First Church of God in East Prairie, with Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie in charge of arrangements.
Interment will immediately follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.
