Private Memorial Services for William Peter Henning, age 74, of Silerton, will be held at a future date. Mr. Henning passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Regional One Extended Care Hospital in Memphis.

He was born in Pretoria, South Africa and came to the United States in 1966 to attend the University of Maryland where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. While here, he met the former Helen Kelley and they were wed on October 20, 1971. The Henning's returned to South Africa to live until moving back to America in 1977. Mr. Henning was naturalized in 1986 as a citizen of this country.

He was an engineer with Kilgore Corporation in Toone from 1993-2011 and was a volunteer fireman for Silerton. In his leisure time, he enjoyed working on and repairing machines, restoring old cars and was an animal lover.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Helen Henning of Silerton; three sons, Morgan Henning of Chicago, IL, Shelby (Melissa) Henning of Macomb, IL and Christopher (Jami) Henning of Huntley, IL; and six grandchildren, Jael, Levi, Isaac, Zoe, Haddie and Josephine Henning.

Mr. Henning is preceded in death by his parents, Willem and Rona Knoll Henning; and a sister, Judy Wiehan.
