Mr. Christy was born June 11, 1912, in Iredell County, the son of the late Andy Christy and the late Mary Margaret Goodman Christy. He was employed with Cannon Mills for 51 years retiring in 1977 and was a member of Enochville Church of God.

Mr. Christy was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Goss Christy, who died March 3, 2005

Survivors include three sons, James Earl Christy of Kannapolis, Raymond H. Christy of China Grove and Donald W. Christy of China Grove; one daughter, Audrey Lee Plott of China Grove; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
