Ruby Lee Blankenship of Cleburne, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020. Ruby was born July 18, 1934 in Fort Worth, Texas, to parents Earl Gilbert Jones and Minnie Viola Mitchell.

Ruby and Milton Blankenship celebrated 71 years of matrimony on September 24th having been married in 1949 in Weatherford, Texas. Between 1951 and 1959 Ruby and Milton were blessed with five children that brought immense joy to Ruby. She was an amazing stay-at-home mom and doted over her family. Ruby was well known for her loving kindness and special cooking skills. Her chicken-and-dumplings, tacos, and fried pies were the rave of everyone that knew Ruby. The Blankenship house quickly became home base' for many of the kid's school friends and other neighborhood children. Ruby made it the house of love that was inviting to so many people over the years.

As the children grew older, Ruby returned to the workforce and took a position with Justin Boots/Acme Brick in 1975. She worked there through December 1995 at which time she and Milton finished building the house of their dreams on two acres just outside of Cleburne. Ruby then retired fully in August 1996. She had numerous pets with several cats and dogs that kept her entertained and active. She loved her many furry family members and always had a funny story to tell about them.

Ruby was active in her faith and a true disciple throughout her life in spreading God's love to others. In her younger years when raising the children, she was an active member at Victory Baptist Church in Fort Worth. As the children began to flourish in their teenage years, the family moved their membership to Haltom Road Baptist in support of the children's opportunities there. Following retirement, Ruby became an active member at Lane Prairie Baptist Church in Cleburne.

Ruby was preceded in death by her father Earl G Jones; and step-mom, Dorothy Jones; her mother, Minnie Viola Mitchell; and step-dad, Johnny Ditter; and by her sister, Betty Mullins.

Ruby is survived by her husband, Milton Blankenship; children, including son, Milton C. Blankenship, Jr. and his wife, Ruth of El Paso, Texas; daughter, Linda Lane and husband, Steven C. Hughes of Fort Worth, son, William Billy' E. Blankenship and wife, Melissa of Grandview, Texas; son, Tom Blankenship and wife, Sally of Durango, Colorado; and son, Mike Blankenship of Saginaw, Texas. Ruby also leaves behind 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Ruth Hackney of Ponca City, Oklahoma; sister, Louise and James Wilkerson of Bedford, Texas; many nieces and nephews; and a beloved family friend, like a son to the family, Chester Wayne Ross.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Fort Worth Humane Society or Panther City Cat Rescue of Fort Worth, Texas, as both were organizations that Ruby was extremely fond of.
