John M. Strickland, 78, of Granger, passed away 2:13pm, Monday, December 14, 2020 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

He was born on December 13, 1942 in Elkhart, to John Alfred Strickland and Catherine E. (O’Connor) Strickland. On July 14, 1962 in Edwardsburg, Michigan, he married Leona L. (Vandygriff) Strickland, and she survives.

John was a maintenance technician for Notre Dame Stadium. He was a proud member of the NRA and the Edwardsburg Conservation Club in Michigan.

Along with his wife Leona, he is survived by a daughter, Tracy L. and husband Noe Cabello of Granger; daughter, Johni M. and husband Scott Hoyt of Elkhart; son, Michael T. Strickland of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Vanessa, Malcolm, and Olivia Cabello; and a great grandson, Wade Crane.

John was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Adriana Cabello, and a brother, Keith Strickland.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, at Granger Missionary Church, 50841 Birch Road, Granger, with Pastor Jason Dickinson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10:00am – 11:00am, one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Granger Missonary Church. Palmer Funeral Home Bubb Chapel is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
