Ray was raised in Edinburg, MO attending school at Trinton High School until the 9th grade. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1969 serving honorably. Ray worked for Wal-Mart most of his life as a night stocker for 22 years. He enjoyed old westerns especially John Wayne.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Doug and Ferrell Collins and a sister, Violet Hunt.
Ray is survived by his sons, Dempsey Collins of Oklahoma, Dean Collins and wife Margie of Louisiana and Chris Collins of Kansas; siblings, Doris Brown and husband Doug of Missouri, Merl Dean Collins of Missouri, Steve Collins and wife Lisa of Iowa, and Charlie Collins of Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
