Winifred was born on November 23, 1940 to George and Arvilla (Hines) Uhrig in Dubuque, Iowa. After high school, she married Vernon Steele. Winifred worked as a nurse’s aid in various health care centers and had resided in Austin and New Ulm before moving in with her daughter, Penny.
Winifred will be lovingly missed by her two daughters, Sue Moldan and husband, Andrew of Klossner, Penny Storo and husband, Joe Larson of rural Madison Lake; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Manuel of Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.
Winifred was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two daughters, a sister and a brother.
Winifred will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.--Mankato Morturay
