PAUL M. HERRERA Sr, 81, was escorted by the angel into heaven on Sunday, December 13, 2020 to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

On August 31, 1939 Paul was born to Antonio & Francisca Herrera in San Patricio, New Mexico. On March 8th, 1958 Paul married the love of his life, Antonia Gomez of Morton, Texas. Together they built a life here in Roswell NM where they were blessed with 5 children to carry their legacy and name.

Paul worked as a Labor/Mechanic all his life, but his real-life work started 40 years ago when he gave his life to Christ. On January 15, 1979 while attending and serving at Vision Celestial Assembly of God Church, Paul gave his life to Christ and began his journey serving the Lord in any capacity. 15 Years later in 1994 Paul and his wife Rev. Toni Herrera were blessed to have their own church serving as Pastors and are currently the leaders and Pastors of Templo Betel Assembly of God located at 221 E. Jefferson in Roswell, New Mexico. He served faithfully without fail always standing along the side of his wife and congregation praying for the sick and winning souls for God.

When Paul was not at church, he really enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and hunting and working on cars with his family. The stories and memories of their time hunting and fishing, camping was many, each one precious and full of laughter and tears. His hobbies aside from the outdoors was collecting model cars, coins and Christian music. His collection’s with time grew in volume and when he had great-grandchildren, he was able to pass them along to be displayed in their own homes. A piece of him to be remembered.

In the past year Paul battled illnesses that challenged his memory and ability to be present for family gatherings and with loved ones. His love and faithfulness were always present in the minds and hearts of his family. At any point his family could bring up a story of their Dad or grandpa and fill the room with laughter and his presence was known at that time.

TO THOSE I LOVE AND THOSE WHO LOVE ME

When I am gone, release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears,
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love and you can only guess
How much you gave me in happiness,
I thank you for the love you have each shown,
But now its time I traveled on alone.
So, grieve a while for if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust,
It’s only for a while that we must part
So, Bless the memories within your heart.
I won’t be far away, for life goes on.
So, if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near
And if you listen with your heart, you’ll hear
All of my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone,
I’ll greet you with a smile, and say,
“Welcome Home”

The Family would like to give thanks to everyone that lifted them up in prayer, brought food during this difficult time. A special thank you to Roswell Joy Center Staff (Dementia Unit Adult Daycare) and Good Samaritan Society in Socorro, New Mexico, Popo’s Restaurant for catering food for the family.
