Emory Reed Stephens, a retired electrician and a member of Local 995, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 3, 2007, at Lakeview Manor. He was 81 and a native of Hobart. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the invasion of Okinawa during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, June Hendricks Stephens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl McLeod and husband Frank, and Kathy Wynne and husband Jimmy; a son and daughter-in-law, Errick Reed Stephens and wife Donna; a sister, James; six grandchildren, Shannon, Michael, Erica, Laura, James and Diana; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lena Stephens; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Bush; two grandchildren, Erin and Amanda Stephens; two sisters and eight brothers.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Grosse Tete Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 36, Grosse Tete, LA 70740.

Special thanks to the nursing staff of Lakeview Manor, Hospice of New Roads and to all those who participated in making his concerts such a success throughout the past years.
