The Star-Mirror, Moscow, Idaho, October 25, 1917: "Mrs. Nancy Burr Johnson died at her home in Moscow at 11 o'clock Thursday morning at the extreme old age of 83 years, nine months and 23 days. Funeral services in her honor were held at the Grice chapel Saturday afternoon with Rev. M.H. Yager officiating. Mrs. R.L. Floyd, Mrs. Johnson's daughter, arrived Saturday morning from Asotin, Wash., to attend the funeral.

"Mrs. Johnson was a woman of great natural ability whose chief desire in life seemed to be to help others. The following exceptionally clear and concise sketch of her own life was written by Mrs. Johnson herself last spring:

"Mrs. Nancy Burr Johnson was born in Pennsylvania in the year 1833. Lived there with her parents until she was five years old. Then moved to Indiana and lived there until she was 14 years old. Then moved to Iowa and when she was 23 years old married Alvin Burr and lived in Iowa 10 years. Then moved to Missouri. While there Mr. Burr died leaving her a widow with four children, Home Burr, Willie Burr, Valleria Burr and Ratonia Burr. At the age of 30 she was converted and joined the Baptist church. Lived in Missouri 14 years, then moved to Kansas and lived there eight years. Then to Idaho, living at Moscow ever since. In that time she married Christopher Johnson, who died four years after their marriage and she lived a widow ever since."
