Jesse Edward Townsend Sr.
Jesse Edward Townsend, Sr. went to be with his Lord on December 14th, 2020 at the age of 83 years old. Born November 2nd, 1937 in Belmont, Louisiana Jesse was the second oldest of 9 children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse J. and Odell Townsend, son Roger Lee Townsend, sister and brother in law G.W & Barbara Birdwell, Gerald & Ella Townsend, and brother in law James Neal.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Frances Townsend and children Sandy and Donny Stamps, Lynda Glasgow, Jesse and Shannon Townsend, Scott and Devon Townsend, Cory and Paige Townsend, 18 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, brothers Dwight and wife Millie Townsend, Floyd and wife Mattie Townsend, Danny & wife Brenda Townsend, Sisters Cynthia & husband Herbert Withers, Shirley Neal, and Brenda & husband Larry Carr. And numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jesse was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1958-1961. He retired from U.S Contractors, Inc after 42 years of service. Jesse loved his family and some of his fondest memories were spending time with family, hunting and especially fishing the Texas Gulf Coast Bays. He loved his church and church family at Emmanuel Baptist Church and loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will be missed by all that knew him and especially his loving wife.
Pall bearers will be Jesse’s loving grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, his family has asked for donations to be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church in Clute, Texas.
Services will be held on Friday, December 18th, 2020 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Clute, TX and will be handled by Stroud Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:30am with services starting at 1pm. Graveside service will follow immediately after at the Angleton Cemetery.
