Mr. Chamney died Friday at a Lawrence nursing home.
He was born Nov. 20, 1911, in Lawrence. He graduated from Oread High School and grew up on his parents' dairy farm.
He later owned and operated the Chamney Dairy, located on West 15th St. He retired from the dairy in 1970, worked five years at the Kansas Union and worked part time at the IGA grocery in the Westridge Shopping Center, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Farm Bureau Assn., Oddfellows Lodge and the Mid American Dairymen Assn.
Mr. Chamney married Dorothea N. Holmes on Dec. 7, 1935. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Clifford Edward Chamney, Mission; two daughters, Marilyn T. Lee, Austin, Tex., and Patricia A. Chamney, Gardner; two sisters, Margaret Messenheimer, Minneapolis, Minn., and Marie Wood, Emporia, and two grandchildren.
