MUNCIE – Sonja L. Young, 72, passed away on Sunday morning, December 13, 2020 surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on May 12, 1948 in Beckley, West Virginia, the daughter of Richmond and Tacy N. (Stover) Miller. On August 31, 1990 in Muncie, she married Karl R. Young.
Sonja loved hummingbirds, flowers and photography.
Surviving are four children, Angie Wilson (Shawn), Eric Vlaskamp, April Skinner (husband, Tony) and Brandy Vlaskamp (wife, Brandy); daughter- in-law, Erin Vlaskamp; seventeen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; one sister and three brothers; and several nieces, nephews and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 21 years, Karl R. Young on October 21, 2011; one son, James Aaron Vlaskamp on November 14, 2020; and four siblings.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, private burial will be held at Beech Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Cancer Services of East Central Indiana – Little Red Door, 2311 W. Jackson Street, Muncie, IN 47303-4733.
