Howards Grove - Dorothy Herr, 89, of Howards Grove, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020 peacefully with her family by her side at Harvest Home Assisted Living. She was born February 28, 1931 in Marytown to the late Claude and Anna (Aulbach) Weber. She attended St. Mary Catholic Grade School in Marytown.

On October 22, 1952 she was united in marriage to Robert Herr, he preceded her in death on August 7, 2015.

Dorothy was a longtime member of St. Isidore/St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Christian Mothers.

Dorothy was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked alongside Bobby as the 4th generation on the family farm in the Town of Meme. Dorothy enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, gardening, and making rosaries. She loved baking for her family and friends and making sure they all had enough to eat. Dorothy and Bobby were members of the Melody Dancers and enjoyed attending Sunday afternoon dances, and also loved to play cards.

Dorothy loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending many of their activities. Dorothy and Bobby enjoyed traveling, especially to Germany to visit her relatives.

Her family is going to miss her standing at the door waving goodbye as they left.

She is survived by her five children; James (Mary Jo), Gerald (Lois),

Mary Ann Debilzen, Brian, and Therese (Daniel) Gries, eleven grandchildren; Nicole (Joe) Neils, Scott (Kim) Debilzen, Eric (Sara) Herr, Thomas (Ashley) Herr, Andrew (Beth) Herr, Lynn Debilzen, Gregory (Tera) Herr, Kayla (Jason) Vanderkin, Samantha (Noah) Kaufman, Robert (Kim) Herr, and Kevin (Maxine) Gries, sixteen great-grandchildren and three on the way, brothers; Joe Weber, Andy Weber, Eugene (Julie) Weber and Paul (Lois) Weber, sister Edna Backhaus, two sisters-in-law Clarissa Bugs and Sr. Marilyn Herr, she is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Marie (Claude) Lisowe, sisters-in-law; Johanna Weber, Kathleen Herr, and Marion Herr, brothers-in-law; Romy Backhaus, Lee Bugs, and Fritz Herr.

Due to Covid-19 a private family mass will be held. The Mass will be livestreamed on the Zimmer Funeral Home website on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 11:00 AM, the service will also be recorded so it may be viewed at anytime after.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Dorothy's name.

The family would like to thank the staff of Harvest Home for their exceptional care while she was a resident there. Heartland Hospice for their care and support and St. Thomas the Apostle for their spiritual support.
