"Joel L. Wood, age 62, of Grantsburg, passed away September 19, 2019, at the Burnett Medical Continuing Care Center.
Joel was born on October 3, 1956, in Ivanhoe, Minn., to parents, Elvera (Hanson) and Russell Wood. Joel graduated from Pine City High School in 1974. He then went on to attend Votech school in Brainerd, Minn., for auto body repair. He was employed by Tim’s autobody in Grantsburg for many years.
Joel was an avid movie buff and street rod enthusiast who loved cars. He enjoyed spending time outdoors boating, fishing and participating in archery activities.
Preceding Joel in death are his parents, Russell and Elvera Wood; and sister, Cheryl Peasley.
Joel is survived by his sister, Dianna (Malcolm) Wilson; brothers, Allan Wood, Tim Wood and Tom (Joni) Wood; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Memorial Service was held Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at 12 p.m. (visitation from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.) at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg, with Pastor Jay Ticknor officiating. Full military honors will commence following the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
