Charles J. Hoover
November 28, 1929 - December 11, 2020

Charles J. Hoover, age 91, went to be with his savior on December 11, 2020 at York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Opal (Bailey) Hoover; together they shared over 29 years of marriage.

Charles was born in Jackson Township and was the son of the late Earl and Amy (Wagner) Hoover. He proudly served his country as Corporal in the United States Army from 1955-1957. He went on to work as an electrician for CC Kottcamp before retiring in 1991. Charles was a member at Bible Baptist Church and a former member, deacon, and Sunday School teacher for Manor Baptist Church. He loved people and truly loved the Lord and would not miss any opportunity to spend time God’s house. He was a farmer at heart and kept his family fed from his garden. He was also a gifted baker and would always share his gift with others. Charles liked to fix antique furniture and enjoyed woodworking; he would always give away his projects. Upon his retirement, he and his wife Opal enjoyed traveling, especially to Dateland Arizona, where they spent many years. Charles loved being a grandfather, and cherished his time with his grandchildren; in return, they loved to sit and listen to his many stories.

In addition to his wife Opal, Charles is survived by his sons Charles “Chuck” and wife Cheryl, Wayne and wife Maureen, Douglas and wife Mary, Terry and wife Linda, and Aaron and wife Debra; his daughters Barbara and husband Dan, Jean, Cindy, Sandra and husband Robert, Teresa and husband John, and Jeanneen and husband Mark; his 17 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. He was also survived by his brothers Earl and James; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Ruth, Jean, and Pearl; and his brother Kenneth.

“He will be greatly missed, and we will forever love and hold him in our hearts until we meet again.”

A graveside service will be held on Friday at 10:00AM at Zeigler’s Church Cemetery, 4258 Zeiglers Church Rd, Seven Valleys, PA 17360, with Military Honors being provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
