Billy Wayne Long age 76 of Monroe, GA, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020. A funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 18, 2020 in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. The burial followed at Walnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Lawrenceville.
Mr. Long retired from Southern Bell (BellSouth) after 40 plus years of service. He was a member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church. He also was a past member of the Board of Directors for the North Georgia School of Gospel Music and also served as a dorm parent for the school while it was in session for several years. He and his wife were very involved in Convention Shaped Note Gospel Singings. He carried song books all over the southeast to those singings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Aubrey & Merdie Lou Carroll Long, and sister, Barbara Miller. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Bonnie Ruth Doss Long, Monroe, GA; sons & daughters-in-law, Stacey & Dee Ann Long, Gainesville, GA; Stephen & Dede Long, Buford, GA; David & Hayley Long, Anniston, AL; sisters & brothers-in-law, Virginia & Delmer Gilbert, Monroe, GA; Grace Clower, Snellville, GA; Jean & Steve Lark, Loganville, GA; Gail & Wayne Manning, Monroe, GA; brother & sister-in-law, Pat & Judy Long, Grovetown, GA; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and a host of other family & friends
