Phyllis Leone Bondly was born on August 10, 1927 on a farm south of Minot where she was reared and attended Minot schools along with 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
On November 19, 1943 she met and married the love of her life, her loving husband of 65 years and best friend, Melvin Abrahamson. They resided on the family farm south of Surrey for 60 wonderful years, where they had four children, Ronald, Roxanne, Linda and Randy. She loved the farm life dearly, upon retiring in 2002 they sold the family farm and moved to Minot due to Melvin's health, whom she cared for, for four years before he went to the Lord, she resided their until the last four years she has called Edgewood Vista her home.
Along with her strong faith and devotion she was the strength and love who kept it all together for her family no matter what life has thrown at her. She was always guided by her strong faith in God.
She was a lifetime member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church and belonged to the Church Confraternity St. Joan of Arc Guild which she was very active in for many years and helped out with many church duties and activities.
Phyllis's enjoyments of life were being a wife, a loving mother, a best friend and always there to give a helping hand to others. The devoted love and dedication to spending time with all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren always put a smile on her face. She loved the farm life, and worked very hard at it. She also loved baking. A passion of hers was sewing, which she did a lot. She also loved having coffee get togethers with her lady friends after moving to Minot. Another great passion of hers was shopping she loved it and could spend hours doing it. She was a 4-H leader for several years and belonged to the Eagles Club, where most Saturday night's her and Melvin would go eat shrimp, their favorite, and dancing with all their farm friends. She also was a young girl who loved ice skating.
Her loving family includes: sister, Donna Lee, Manhattan Beach, CA; sister-in-law, Alma Bondly; children, Roxanne Corum, Minot, Linda (Don) Severson, Spring, TX, Randy (Anne) Abrahamson, Minot; daughter-in-law, Cindy Abrahamson, Hettinger, ND; grandchildren, Shawn (Kim) Rasmuson, Scott Rasmuson, Tanya Vollmer-Bodensteiner, Carla (Carl) Severson-Roberts, Jerid Abrahamson, Melissa (Greg) De Salvo, Jaime (Steve) Gingras, and Kenny Abrahamson; 12 great-grandchildren; 9 great great-grandchildren; niece, Pam (Bob) Herrington, who held a place in mom's heart. She came to mom's house weekly for several years to do mom's hair. Pam and Bob were always there whenever they were needed; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many great long-time friends.
A special thank you to her other family these past 4 years, Edgewood Vista Assisted Living and Memory Care/Cookies Cottage, where she dearly loved them all but had a loving special bond with Krissy, she always said everyone is so sweet and they treated her like a Queen and that always put a smile on her face. Also a thank you to Caring Edge Hospice and their wonderful staff for their special care and compassion they gave our mother until the end
She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Melvin; five brothers; three sisters; son, Ronald Abrahmason; grandchildren, Tammy Vollmer-Weidner, Eric Severson, Robin Rasmuson, Kevin Abrahamson; sons-in-law, Oscar Corum and Leon Rasmuson; and many other relatives and friends.
